I2 Lab Distinguished Seminar Series
Modeling and Design for Product Development
Dr. Ioana Boier-Martin
Wednesday, March 8, 2006
11:00AM - CSB-232
Abstract
In this talk I will present an overview of research activities in the
area of modeling and design for product development. These activities
focus on several types of modeling, design, and simulation for
mechanical, as well as integrated, system-level product design. In the
first part of my talk I will discuss our research on subdivision
surfaces and their applicability to mechanical CAD/CAE. In the second
part of the talk I will describe how system modeling allows us to
integrate mechanical models with artifacts from other engineering
disciplines (e.g., software, electronics, requirements) to develop full
product models that can be used to facilitate product-level reasoning.
I will illustrate the results of this research with several demos.
