Their current research interests include multimedia databases, video communications, sensor networks, wireless communications, mobile computing, and intelligent transportation systems. In this presentation, Dr. Kien Hua will introduce some of the recent research activities in this group. In particular, the following techniques and system prototypes will be discussed:

  • iSEE - Internet Sensor Exploration Environment
  • QD - an image retrieval system based on Query Decomposition (QD)
  • Range Multicast - a network router to support video-on-demand applications
  • Skycraper Broadcast - a highly scalable video-on-demand system
  • Connectionless Approach - a technique for mobile ad hoc networks
  • STEMS - Smart Traffic Evacuation Management System
