ECE BS+MS Fellowships
The ECE program has initiated a new program expected to start in the Spring of 2005. The program is called “BS+MS degree” or "Accelerated MS" and it is intended for qualified undergraduate students at UCF that are interested in finishing their BS and MS degree in the Electrical or Computer Engineering programs in 5 years. For more information about the degree requirements for the BS+MS program please visit the graduate catalog at www.graduate.ucf.edu and review the academic guidelines for the EE degree or the CpE Masters degree.
The ECE BS+MS fellowship provides a stipend of $15,000 and full tuition support for qualified UCF students who have enrolled for the BS+MS program. The stipend and the full tuition waiver will be available after the student finishes their B.S. program and is ready to start working towards the MS degree. In the M.S. program the student needs to take a combination of graduate classes and work on a thesis under the supervision of a faculty advisor of their choice. A requirement of the BS+MS fellowship is that the student will perform some teaching duties (grader for a course or lab instructor of a course). It is expected that the student will finish the requirements for the M.S. program one year after he/she completes the requirements of the B.S. program.
The minimum criteria for the award are:
- Must be a BS+MS applicant to the ECE Department (EE or CpE program).
- GPA of at least 3.25 at the time of their application.
- GRE score of at least 1000 on the combined verbal-quantitative sections.
All students wishing to be considered for this award must submit a complete application for admission, which includes a goal statement, undergraduate transcripts, 2 letters of recommendation, and a resume, to the Office of Graduate Studies by November 15, 2004. It is intended that the resume and goal statement will include information about the applicant's experience in the field, evidence of awards, recognition, or honors, and evidence of professional contributions and achievements. All applicants that are expected to enter into their graduate year in the Spring 05, Summer 05 or Fall 05 semester and are interested in the BS+MS fellowships must submit their applications by November 15, 2004.
For more information about the BS+MS Fellowships please contact the EE Graduate Coordinator (Michael Georgiopoulos at michaelg@mail.ucf.edu), or the CpE Graduate Coordinator (Harold Klee at klee@mail.ucf.edu).
Note: Although reference is made above about the 2004-2005 BS+MS fellowships the ECE Department will be offering these fellowships on a recurring basis (every year). The number of fellowships offered every year will depend on the quality of the applicants applied, and the specific needs of the ECE Department.
