Question 1: What are the minimum requirements to be admitted to the graduate program in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department?
Answer:
Master’s Applicants: Need a 1000 GRE (v+q) and 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of their undergraduate studies.
PhD. Applicants: need a 1100 GRE (v+q) and 3.5 GPA in the last 60 hours in their undergraduate studies or 3.5 GPA in their Masters studies
BS+MS Applicants: Need to be UCF students of junior standing or above with a 3.25 GPA, and a 1000 GRE (v+q); GRE needs to be taken by the first semester of the student’s senior year.
Question 2: When should a student file a Program of Study with the department?
Answer: All students should have an approved Program of Study on file by the end of their first semester at UCF (after they have taken 9 credit hours of coursework). If student does not comply with this rule they will have their records placed on hold.
Question 3: How do I find an Advisor?
Answer: The ECE department does not assign advisors to students. The Graduate Coordinator(s) though facilitate the process of finding an advisor for the student if the student is a fellowship recipient (ECE Fellow, Presidential Fellow, Trustee Fellow, BS+MS Fellow). Otherwise it is the student’s responsibility to contact faculty and inquire about the possibility of them becoming their academic advisor. Question 4: How do I apply for a Teaching Assistant position?
Answer: If you are Electrical Engineering you would need to see Dr. Sundaram in room 408 in Engineering 1 building. If you are Computer Engineering you should see Dr. Klee in room 251 Engineering 1 Building. |
