Trustees Doctoral Fellowships

The University of Central Florida offers Trustees Doctoral Fellowships to superior graduate students who are newly enrolling at UCF in one of its doctoral programs or tracks. These awards provide multiyear support to the most qualified applicants to the institution.

All new students who enter in the Spring 2006, Summer 2006, or Fall 2006 semesters as full-time students pursuing doctoral degrees are eligible to be nominated for this award. Stipend payments will begin in the Fall 2006 semester.

This fellowship program provides two years of fellowship and tuition support, provided that academic progress is maintained. UCF Graduate Studies provides a $18,000 fellowship in the first and second years, with full tuition (matriculation and out-of-state fees only)  for up to 24 student credit hours of course work in the first year, and with full tuition (matriculation only) for up to 24 student credit hours of course work in the second year. UCF will not provide nonresident (out-of-state) tuition for U.S. citizens or resident aliens beyond the first year.

The minimum criteria for the award are:

All students wishing to be considered for this award must submit a complete application for admission, which includes a goal statement, undergraduate (and graduate) transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation, and a resume, to UCF  Graduate Studies by February 1, 2006. It is intended that the resume and goal statement will address the minimum criteria of experience in the field, evidence of awards, recognition, or honors, and evidence of professional  contributions and achievements. Test scores must be received by  UCF Graduate Studies by February 1, 2005. Failure to provide the necessary materials by this date will eliminate an applicant from being considered for this award.

Students receiving this award must be enrolled full-time as a graduate student in a doctoral program or track during  the tenure of the award (at least 9 hours of course work during the Fall and Spring semesters; summer enrollment is optional, but Fellowship recipients may receive summer tuition support for 6 hours of course work during the Summer semesters). Refer to “Full-time Enrollment Requirements” in the Financial Information Section of the Graduate Catalog for more information about university enrollment requirements.

 Recipients of this fellowship will not normally receive graduate assistantships.

Note: Although reference is made above about the 2005-2006 Trustees Doctoral Fellowships fellowships the University will be offering these fellowships on a recurring basis (every year). The number of fellowships offered every year will depend on the quality of the applicants applied, and the available university funds.
