Kate Kapalo

Kate joined the ISUE lab in Fall 2016 and is currently pursuing her PhD in Modeling and Simulation. She currently works on a variety of projects, but her main research focus is evaluating and designing interfaces to fill capability gaps and address the challenges first responders face in the field. Kate has previously worked as a contract Research Psychologist with the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) in Orlando. Kate is also an Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) award recipient and was one of three graduate students selected for placement at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. There, she worked on the Joint Interagency Field Experimentation (JIFX) Program, a series of quarterly field exercises designed to provide resources to the United States Unified Combatant Commands (COCOMs) and other federal agencies. Kate's research has recently been recognized by the Human Factors and Erogonomics Society (HFES) Cognitive Engineering and Decision Making technical group. She received her M.S. in Modeling & Simulation in 2015 and her B.S. in Psychology in 2012 from the University of Central Florida.
