Larch/C++, and behavioral interface specification in general, is useful for the following reasons.

• Interface specification helps reuse.

• Formal specification helps in analysis of designs.

• There is a great need for documentation of C++ class libraries.

• Formal specification can (for some purposes) substitute for source code.
