Cognitive radio based on 802.22
Cognitive radio based on IEEE 802.22 is one of the most important upcoming technologies to drive the next generations of digital communications. New IEEE standardization activities coupled with FCC's spectrum policy reform and federally funded research programs (e.g., DARPA XG and NSF NeTS ProWiN) are now the major push towards the commercial deployment of IEEE 802.22. In this research, we concentrate on the enhancement of the air-interface of IEEE 802.22, i.e., the PHY and MAC.

Media Streaming and VoIP over 802.16 (WiMax)
In this project, we are analyzing the capability of supporting streaming media and VoIP over WiMax. This can be achieved through the rich set of features present at the Media Access Control (MAC) layer of 802.16 and 802.16a. Schemes such as ARQ, Scheduling, Aggregation, and Fragmentation are being investigated for better delay and loss performance.

3G . 802.11 Internetworking
In this project, we are trying to analyze the performance and drawbacks of existing 3GPP CDMA/HDR systems and exploring ways to use multi-hop relay nodes to provide uniform coverage throughout the cell. By augmenting the benefits of 802.11 (Wi-Fi) to the 3G downlinks, we expect to achieve fairness among users, enhance throughput, and provide uniform coverage.
